Earth Day 2010

For those of you who haven't heard, we have become a Joint Base with McGuire and Lakehurst.

Join us for an Earth Day Festival including green living booths and demonstrations, crafts, hikes, canoeing, tree climbing, Woodland Creature Puppet Theater, a hybrid car, Planet Pirates show, nature centers, pollination station, visit real wildlife, and much more!
If you do not have a military id card you must pre-register by April 14th, 2010
To register you must e-mail Jen at jennifer.armento@mcguire.af.mil.
Include the name and drivers license number & expiration date for
each adult coming in your group.

Earth Day Program Update

Wondering what to do with all your old clothing and shoes???
Donate them at the Planet Aid booth and give your clothes a second life.
The objective of Planet Aid's Clothes Collection is to establish an efficient reuse system for second hand clothing. It is a locally based activity benefiting Planet Aid's development aid objectives, while also contributing to local and national goals for increased recycling. Earth Day Updates

Don't forget to REGISTER for Earth Day if you do not already have a military id card. You must e-mail Jen at fortdixearthday@yahoo.com or call 609-562-5428 to register.


~Jen will need your name, address, date of birth, last 4 digits of your social security number, and the make, model and plate number of the vehicle you will be driving onto Fort Dix.
~Registration packets will be mailed to you & will include directions & your security pass.


~Deadline for registration is April 21, 2009 at close of business (5:00pm). Due to security precautions we will not be able to honor late registrations as per Department of Defense Police Policy requirements.

"A Story of Stuff" by Roger Smith
Performed in the big tent at 10:00, 12:00, & 2:00. Starring "Ricky" the raccoon,
"Squirrely" the squirrel, "Baldy" the Eagle, and other woodland creatures.

NPLD A Huge Success

"Down & Dirty" for Fort Dix!
National Public Lands Day was a huge success thanks to all of our volunteers who braved the weather and came out to the lake.
Over 80 volunteers teamed together to remove countless invasive plants at Lake of the Woods, restore eroding banks at Amphibious Lake by installing erosion mats and biologs, plant over 1,500 native grasses shrubs & aquatic herbs, remove truckloads of litter, and eat 30 pizzas! Not bad for a "rainy" day

Thanks to all our NPLD 2007 Volunteers!!!

Public Lands Day 2007-A Huge Success!

A special thanks to our 150 volunteers!
Together we spent 586 hours:
~repairing an eroded shoreline
~planting 220 native plants
~removing 520 invasive non-native plants
~clearing out 7,100 pounds of trash & debri
~hauling 60 tires and a boat out of the woods
~installing 8 bird nesting boxes
~rebuilding a footbridge
~installing split rail fence
~putting up educational signs
& eating 20 pizzas!!
